Good to see this topic posted by you. The environment concern which you have is very relevant at this stage. I can easily say Pure electric vehicles like Nexon EV, MG ZS EV are something which does justice to “zero emission” and is totally “fuel efficient”. The range of 200-250 kms for full charge of battery hardly costs about 100-200rs (depends on type of charging also).
If you are strictly looking at Petrol/Diesel SUVs that are eco-friendly with great fuel economy, there are plenty of options in the market. Good news is India has done transition to BS6 emission norms which is less toxic than any other generation cars…
If you are in the market for compact SUVs, go with Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV300 etc
Nissan Magnite offers fuel economy of 16 kmpl - 19 kmpl… Manual-19 kmpl, Automatic CVT-16.5 kmpl.
Will be interesting to see others response on this topic.
